We all work well together. We know each other’s strengths and we are there to support each other. Everyone has a role to play, everyone matters in this firm, and that’s one of the things that sets us apart. When we all pull together, everyone – clients and staff – shares in the success of MacDonald Lynch.

Elaine MacDonald, Partner
"As a team, we have a wealth of experience and legal skills and, most importantly, we all have the enthusiasm and the determination to succeed and provide the best possible service for our clients."

After graduating in Law from Strathclyde University, Elaine worked in business development for several years. She decided to enter the legal profession and completed the Dip LP in 2011.

Elaine has worked in private practice for over 10 years and has a broad range of skills and experience in property sale and purchase, commercial leases, wills and estates, power of attorney, divorce and separation.

Elaine is determined that MacDonald Lynch should offer a personalised, approachable service to clients.

Elaine shares her life with her young daughter and their dog Milo. She is a keen fitness enthusiast, which gives her the energy and drive to deliver for her clients. When Covid restrictions allow, she is looking forward to new adventures with friends and family.

Colin Carr, Partner
"I come from the south side. I knew Gerry at University and have worked with him for over 30 years. Hampden Park and Queen’s Park used to be my stomping ground when I was younger, so I’m enthusiastic to develop this new business."

Colin is a graduate of the University of Glasgow. After eight years as a sole practitioner in Rutherglen, Colin became one of the founding partners of Carr Berman Crichton of Rutherglen and Glasgow. More recently he has worked as a freelance business development consultant for other legal practices. Colin deals in domestic property, wills, power of attorney and estates. He regularly conducts home, hospital and hospice visits for the infirm or elderly. He also deals with claims for mis-sold financial products and was instrumental in bringing forward PPI claims in Scotland, acting for some 30,000 clients and recovering £50 million.

Colin lives the south side of Glasgow with his wife Yvonne and has three grown up children.

Gerry Lynch, Consultant
"I think we've built up a good, solid reputation over the years. I don't know what the magic formula is, but I think people appreciate empathy - somebody who's prepared to listen to them and knows that you are really on their side and acting in their best interests."

Gerry studied Law at the University of Glasgow.

After graduating he took on an apprentice role with Michael Sheridan, who became Secretary at Scottish Law Agents Society, and then when went on to become a Court Assistant in Cambuslang for the late Gerry Carrol QC. He then spent two years as Principal Solicitor at the District Council in Cumbernauld advising on issues such as planning and building control and housing legislation.

In 1984, he set up his own legal practice Lynch & Co., now expanding and relaunched as MacDonald Lynch.

Away from his desk, Gerry enjoys walking and jogging, spending time with his grandchildren and following football.

Robert Telfer, Associate
"I'm excited to be at the start of something new, taking over an existing firm and giving it a new purpose, building relations with new and existing clients and supporting the business to grow."

Robert obtained a PhD in Law at the University of Glasgow before qualifying as a solicitor. In practice, he advises primarily on conveyancing, wills, power of attorney and executries.

In previous employment, Robert worked for a leading Glasgow estate agency. He gained in-depth market knowledge and is well-placed to advise on all aspects of buying and selling.

Robert is a car and pick-up vehicle enthusiast, having attended the Paris and Geneva motor shows as well as the Ford F:150 factory in Detroit.

Tracey Matheson, Senior Paralegal
"We’re an incredibly good blend – to have those different experience levels, and those different age levels, is a really positive thing. All of us are going to bring a lot of energy to MacDonald Lynch because we're so determined to make it work. I might be approaching 60, but I’m going to throw all of my energy at it."

Tracey Matheson studied English Literature at the University of Edinburgh but left to join Registers of Scotland (ROS) as a non graduate direct entrant. She later completed her degree through the Open University. At ROS, she gained a deeper understanding of the law and worked in a variety of roles handling customer services, Books of Council and Session and legal casework. Following redundancy, Tracey returned to University to retrain as a paralegal. More than six years into her new career, Tracey continues to expand her legal skills and experience in all aspects of conveyancing.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time in the Dumfries and Galloway countryside with her family.

Gillian Coyle, Paralegal
"I'm in such a fortunate position to be starting University soon and starting in a new, exciting firm. I’m an assistant to a solicitor at the moment, but the aim is obviously to go on and become a solicitor myself. Working here gives me a good grounding for university because I’ve got on the job experience. I'm just so excited."

Gillian has experience working in all areas of residential conveyancing and private client matters. She enjoys helping buyers to navigate the market and is committed to delivering excellent client service.

In previous employment, Gillian worked as a cashier for a major bank where she processed a high volume of customer transactions.

Gillian has accepted an offer to study law at the University of Glasgow and intends to train to become a solicitor.

Colin [Carr] was recommended to us to act on our behalf in the matter of an equity release. As part of the process we also had wills and power of attorney drawn up. We found Colin to be very helpful in guiding us through the process and in answering our numerous questions. He was both courteous and friendly and we would have no hesitation in recommending his services to others.
David Pollock
I used MacDonald Lynch to notarise some documents to be used abroad. Robert Telfer, an Associate at MacDonald Lynch drafted the POA letter and got everything legalised. Everything was done quickly, professionally and with no stress to myself at all. I am very satisfied with MacDonald Lynch and I will definitely use their services again.
